Horă din Schitu Golești

History

A Romanian dance. I learned this from Adrian Pointon in 2010.

Rhythm

The dance is in an even 4/4 rhythm, with a step or touch on every beat.

Steps

Start in a circle in a W hold, facing diagonally right of centre.

First Part

Step forward with the right foot, then touch beside it with the left. Step forward with the left foot, then touch beside it with the right.
Turn to face left of centre and take four steps backwards, starting with the right. On the last step jump onto the left foot and extend the right forward, ready to start again.

Do the first part four times.

Second Part

Turn to face centre. Step forward with the right, then touch beside it with the left. Step back with the left, then touch beside it with the right.
Step to the side with the right while moving the arms slightly to the right. Close the left beside the right while moving the arms to the left. Step to the side with the right while moving the arms to the right. Touch the left beside the right while keeping the arms out to the right.
Do all of this again with opposite feet (and arms).

Do the whole of the second part twice.

Music

From a workshop CD - no more information I'm afraid.

There's a short introduction, the dance begins with the main melody.
