Milise Mou

History

A dance choreographed by Ilias Pilatis. I learned this from Liz Hammer in 2010.

Rhythm

The dance is in an even 4/4 rhythm with step (or lift) on every beat.

Steps

Start in a circle, facing centre, arms in a W hold.

First Part (verse)

Step to the side with the right, then cross in front with the left. Step to the side with the right, then lift the left in front. Step to the side with the left, then lift the right in front.
Do this four times.

Take three steps forward, starting with the right, then lift the left in front. Take three steps back, starting with the left, then lift the right in front.

Second Part (chorus)

Step to the side with the right, then cross in front with the left while dipping slightly. Step to the side with the right, then cross behind with the left. Step to the side with the right, then lift the left in front. Step to the side with the left, then lift the right in front.
Do this three times.

Take three steps forward, starting with the right, then lift the left in front. Take three steps back, starting with the left, then touch the right beside the left.

Let go hands and in four steps make a complete clockwise turn while moving to the right.

Ending the dance
At the very end do the first four steps of the sequence then make a quick step to the side with the left and quickly raise the right leg in a high knee lift.

Music

From a workshop CD - no more information I'm afraid.
There's a short introduction, the dance begins with the singing.

Milise Mou from Epistrofi by Grigoris Bithikotsis.
With this music there isn't a constant verse/chorus sequence - listen to the music and do the first part during the verses and the second part for the choruses ("Milise mou, milise mou...").
The second part plays through as an introduction.
