Grandmothers Beranče

History

This is a simpler version of Zensko Beranče. I saw it being performed by a group of women from Kostur (Kastoria) on Macedonian TV.

Rhythm

The music is in 12/8 time, split into 3-4-3-2 or slow-slower-slow-quick. Remember that the last step is quick!

Steps

In a line, arms in a W hold, facing right.

Step forward with the left, close the right beside the left, step forward on the left, lift the right while turning to face slightly right of centre.

Step forward with the right, replace the left, step back on the right, touch the left beside the right while turning to face right.
