Funchal doors

The city of Funchal is the capital of Madeira, a Portuguese island in the North Atlantic. In the pedestrian-only lanes of Funchal's Old Town most of the doorways have been decorated in flamboyant style, sometimes reflecting the premises to which they lead, sometimes acknowledging aspects of the islands history or culture, and sometimes just as an artist's individual expression.
